Coronavirus (COVID-19) Safety Precautions

March 16, 2020

Hi everyone! I wanted to reach out and let you know that I have chosen to remain open and see clients at this time. Your safety and well-being are my top priority and I want you to be aware of the precautions I am taking so that you can make an informed decision should you choose to book a session.

As advised by the CDC and WHO strict cleaning procedures including frequent, thorough hand washing and sanitizing surfaces are necessary to prevent the spread of COVID-19. Please visit the CDCs website to review their Environmental Cleaning and Disinfection Recommendations in further detail.

I will be closely monitoring recommendations of the CDC, WHO, the Georgia Board of Massage Therapy and government agencies regarding COVID-19 and I will revise these protocols as needed. I will continue to see clients until it is required to shut down.

I will be taking the following precautions to ensure your safety while in my treatment space:

  • Treatment Room Protocol: Massage and table equipment will be thoroughly sanitized between each client. This includes door handles inside and out; toilet handle; faucet, hot towel cabinet door, product containers, massage stool, light switches, cell phone / iPad / computers / card readers, pens, as well as all counters/flat surfaces in the treatment room. The room will also be sprayed with disinfecting aerosol spray.

  • Personal Protective Protocol: I encourage each of my clients to wash their hands before and after they enter the treatment room. Hand sanitizer will also be available and encouraged. I will wash my hands before and after each client and when coming in contact with possible contaminated items or surfaces (such as unwashed linens). I will be using hand sanitizer upon entering and exiting the room and before touching clients.

  • Massage Linen Protocol: As standard protocol, linens (sheets, blankets, face cradle covers, and towels) are changed after every client. Used linen is removed immediately, placed in a covered hamper in the office laundry area and sprayed with disinfecting spray. All linens are laundered in disinfecting laundry sanitizer and laundry detergent. After drying, linens are folded on a sanitized surface and placed in a closed cabinet.

  • Rescheduling or cancelling: If clients or therapist are, or come in contact with, anyone; not feeling well, running a fever, have a compromised immune system, or have flown overseas or been exposed to an area of high infection, sessions will be cancelled. Please contact me as soon as possible if you need to reschedule or cancel your session.  I will notify clients as soon as possible in the event of a rescheduling, cancellation or shut down.

If clients feel more comfortable receiving sessions in their homes, I will provide mobile massage services and waive the travel and set-up fees.

I know that many will ask why am I still offering massage during this time and the answer is simple: for those clients who are healthy and do not have a compromised immune system, massage can help boost your immune system by increasing the activity level of the body’s white blood cells that work to combat viruses. According to research from Cedars-Sinai, participants in a Swedish massage group experienced significant changes in lymphocytes, which play a large role in defending the body from disease. A lymphocyte is one of the three subtypes of white blood cells in the immune system.

If you have any questions or concerns or need to reschedule an appointment, please feel free to call me at 706-510-9788.

Thank you for being the best part of my massage practice!
